FM Viz4D

  • Better understanding of geologic processes from insights based on dense multibeam or lidar data.
  • Combine data at different resolutions, from various sensors (multibeam and sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profilers, topographic and bathymetric lidar), field observations, satellite imagery and geophysical analysis to reveal correlations in the data. Data can be visualized quickly and easily even on desktop computers.
  • Different data types supported - seabed surfaces, subsurface images, fault lines, point clouds, aerial photographs, and geological maps - all in the same 4D space.
  • Calculate slope and rugosity of the seafloor using a variety of algorithms.
  • With the new 4D, time-integrated interface, it is now possible to visualize dynamic systems such as fluid chemistry or sediment deposition changing over time. In a geologic time frame, things like glaciations or converging plates can be visualized in 4D with the detail only limited by the user's imagination.
  • Can handle vast quantities of data quickly, so utilizing high resolution surveys is less time consuming and lost time due to system crashes etc. is minimized. Very fine details can be visualized without long waits for data access.

Additional Functionality Available in Other Bundles

  • Plan cable or pipe routes in an integrated environment to ensure that you minimize geohazards (FM Offshore, FM Pro).
  • Combining CUBE1 processing with our intuitive area-based editing can shorten data processing time and result in a more robust rendition of the sonar/lidar data. This leaves more time for data interpretation and higher confidence that surface results from the survey are based on real data and not acquisition artifacts (FM Hydro, FM Pro).
  • New backscatter processing tools, helping you get the clearest mosaic to aid in the interpretation of the seafloor2 (FM Geocoder, available standalone or as part of FM Habitat, FM Pro).
  • Perform remote seabed characterization using ARA, Angular Response Analysis2 (FM Geocoder, available standalone or as part of FM Habitat, FM Pro).
For some examples of geological surveys, see the USGS website.
